As of October 1st, 2008 all mammography performed in Nova Scotia, screening and diagnostic, is done under the direction of the Nova Scotia Breast Screening Program. Nova Scotia is the first province to have all mammography in a single database. A screening mammogram appointment usually takes 15-20 minutes. Women are advised to wear a two-piece outfit and not wear deodorant or powder which can show up on the mammograms. Fixed screening sites are located in all District Health Authorities.
